December brings the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. The shortest day of the year, or the fewest hours of daylight.
Tuesday 21st December
It only gets brighter from here!
I leant upon the coppice gate,
When frost was spectre-gray,
And Winter’s dregs made desolate
The weakening eye of day.
The tangled bine-stems scored the sky
Like strings of broken lyres,
And all mankind that haunted nigh
Had sought their household fires …

The French Family
For our final family session of 2021, I had the pleasure of joining the wonderful French family for a stroll around the stunningly picturesque Mowbray Park in Sunderland.
A fun filled winter wonderland, as we were blessed with a true covering of snow. I even got to capture little Poppy’s first experience.

I love getting to see families grow. I had the pleasure of photographing these guys when Parker was just a baby. Such a happy and creative family. Thank you, Frankie, you are doing an amazing job of raising these gorgeous kiddies.

Hygge Life
“Hygge” – pronounced “hoo-gah” – translates roughly to ‘cosiness’.
It’s about creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people.
There is no better time to lead a hygge lifestyle. Especially as the natural pull to hibernate is so strong.
Here at LAL Photography we’re sentimental souls. We like to spend this time with friends and family.

I’ve read that children feel safe, welcome, seen and loved if there are images of themselves in the family home. I love this idea and think this is something every family needs to know.

Do you long to quiet the noise of modern life?
