Enchantment isn’t about Magical thinking; it is about being fully present in the world.
Cultivating a Sense of Wonder and Mystery
In the modern world we tend to seek safety and security but wonder and mystery can be the key to enchanted living.
- Watch young children exploring a new place or participating in a new activity. How can you bring some of that curiosity into your own daily routine?
- Explore your own creativity.
- Learn something new.
- Go to an Art Gallery or Museum.
- Stop in your tracks from time to time.
- Slow down.
- Go somewhere new, whenever you can.
- Cultivate your intuition and your instincts.
Sea glass is created by the tears of mermaids who have fallen in love with sailors. When the sailors have drowned, the mermaid tears create pieces of glass that are tossed and tumbled along the ocean floor, creating colourful gems that are eventually washed ashore by the waves.
Lesley Hunter – Sea Glass Jewellery
“The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. To dig for treasures shows not only impatience and greed, but lack of faith. Patience, patience, patience, is what the sea teaches. Patience and faith. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach—waiting for a gift from the sea.” – Anne Morrow Lindbergh, from A Gift from the Sea.
Seaham is a dog friendly pebble beach in County Durham. Renowned for its sea glass, treasures from the sea.

Enchanted Living at LAL Photography
I am introducing a new Enchanted Living blog series. My journey through this magical world we are part of, and the inspiration behind my photography, art and creativity.
These techniques I share as part of the ‘Enchanted Living’ series work great combined with techniques I share in :
I am standing amid an aliveness, and that aliveness deserves my attention, my respect, my care …
The insects and birds and animals are singing themselves into being; this autumn land is dreaming and I am part of that dreaming.
I’ve read that children feel safe, welcome, seen and loved if there are images of themselves in the family home. I love this idea and think this is something every family needs to know.
