Will you be celebrating Halloween?
Origins of Halloween
Halloween has its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, pronounced ‘sow-en’. A festival to celebrate endings and beginnings. The final harvest of the year. And a time to honour and remember our ancestors.

Halloween Traditions
- Create an altar with photos of ancestors who have passed.
- Leave offerings outside for the dead
- Hold a dumb supper for loved ones who have passed.
- Hold a candle ceremony for your ancestors.
- Place a coin on the grave of a loved one.

During some Celtic celebrations of Samhain, villagers disguised themselves in costumes made of animal skins to drive away phantom visitors; banquet tables were prepared and food was left out to placate unwelcome spirits.

Why is Photography Important?
I’ve read that children feel safe, welcome, seen and loved if there are images of themselves in the family home. I love this idea and think this is something every family needs to know.
You see stories, memories and keepsakes are important. Life is short. Our humanity is what makes us beautiful. The light will never look or be seen the same again and neither will we.
We will never have this moment again.
So, let’s capture it!
