Have You Tried Creativity Walks?

Creativity walks are where Quieting the Noise, Enchanted Living, and my photography collide. Using techniques I share in these blog series and a simple nature walk give me the inspiration to create my art. Bringing creativity into your life can help toward good mental health.

Do you ever feel stuck? Creatively and in life. I often hit bocks, repeat unhealthy habits or self-sabotage. As a mindful practice, I simply pick up my camera and go for a walk.

Nature Walks

There is growing research suggesting spending time in nature promotes many things, including creativity.

“In every walk in nature, one receives more than he seeks.”

How Does Art Help?

Art can:

  • Allow you to express your feelings in a symbolic manner.
  • Help bring focus to positive life experiences.
  • Achieve enhanced self-worth and identity.
  • Help you escape intense emotions.
  • Be a means of artistic self-expression.
  • Reduce cortisol – the stress hormone.

Enchanted Living

little jar of joy

Enchanted Living is a path to contentment. It is a way to participate in a living world and acknowledging myth and story as living principles in the world.

I am standing amid an aliveness, and that aliveness deserves my attention, my respect, my care…

The insects, birds and animals are singing themselves into being; this autumn land is dreaming and I am part of that dreaming.

What are Creativity Walks?

I use creativity walks to participate in mindful photography. But it can work for any creative medium. The most important thing is to …

Be Present

“The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.”

Tips for Mindful Creativity

fungi
  • Choose somewhere familiar
    • This helps you notice the details.
  • If it catches your eye, capture it
    • You can figure out the meaning or story later.
  • Slow down
    • Once you notice something pause and watch. The light, the smells, the feeling in the air.
  • Use all your senses.

When photographing families I love familiar, local locations the most. It helps me to really take notice of expressions and emotions.

Why is Photography Important?

I’ve read that children feel safe, welcome, seen and loved if there are images of themselves in the family home. I love this idea and think this is something every family needs to know.

You see stories, memories and keepsakes are important. Life is short. Our humanity is what makes us beautiful. The light will never look or be seen the same again and neither will we.

We will never have this moment again.

So, let’s capture it!

Hi,
I’m Lesley-Anne, also known as LAL.

Why Choose Me, as your Family Photographer

It’s your story and your legacy. It’s how I see your story through my lens.

I am one of a handful of photographers in my area and in the UK that showcase honest, authentic, everyday moments. This is my speciality!

I am noticing delicate, awe-inspiring moments and connection. I am seeing these with every family I am lucky enough to spend time with.

I want to share what I see with you.
